Our Sustainability Pledge

Responsible craft. Conscious commerce.

Handloom weaving is inherently sustainable — no electricity, no machines, just skill and time. Our work builds on this foundation to ensure the entire supply chain is fair, transparent and ecology-conscious.

🌱

Natural & Low-Impact Dyes

We encourage weavers to use natural dyes from turmeric, indigo, pomegranate rind and madder root. For synthetic dyes, we audit for OEKO-TEX compliance before listing.

🪡

Zero Machine Production

Every saree on Sambalbhoomi is woven on a handloom. No power looms. No mill imitations. The GI tag and our own sourcing audits guarantee authenticity.

🤝

Fair Wages, Always

Weavers set their own prices. We take a small platform fee only after payment is received — no advance deductions, no arbitrary price cuts.

♻️

Minimal Packaging

Sarees are wrapped in acid-free tissue, placed in recycled craft paper and shipped in organic cotton dust bags. Single-use plastic was eliminated from all packaging in 2024.

🚚

Carbon-Conscious Shipping

We partner with logistics providers that offset carbon emissions. Within Odisha, we use electric-vehicle last-mile delivery where available.

🏛️

Heritage as Conservation

Every purchase funds another day at the loom, keeping a centuries-old craft alive. Buying handloom is itself an act of cultural conservation.
