Saree Care Guide

Preserve the beauty and longevity of your Sambalpuri weave

Sambalpuri sarees are handwoven using natural silk or cotton yarn dyed with the Bandha (IKAT) technique. Proper care ensures colours stay vivid and the weave lasts a lifetime.

Silk Sambalpuri Sarees

  • ·Dry clean only — do not hand wash or machine wash
  • ·Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to prevent colour fading
  • ·Store folded with acid-free tissue paper between folds
  • ·Never hang silk sarees — always fold to prevent stretching
  • ·Air out in shade for 30 minutes every 3–6 months
🌿

Cotton Sambalpuri Sarees

  • ·Hand wash gently in cold water with a mild detergent
  • ·Do not wring — gently press out excess water with a towel
  • ·Dry flat in shade, not in direct sunlight
  • ·Iron on medium heat from the reverse side while slightly damp
  • ·Wash separately for the first 2–3 washes as colours may bleed slightly

Colour Care

Bandha-dyed (IKAT) sarees use natural and reactive dyes that are colourfast once set. For the first wash, add a handful of salt to the water to further set the colours. Avoid bleach, harsh detergents, and fabric softeners.
